The International Beatbox Association was founded in 2003, for two main reasons:
- to aid beatboxers in getting paid work, and thereby
- to help beatboxing attain the public level of credibility as a musical art form deserved of remuneration, as already enjoyed by more mainstream instrumentation.
Through the IBA beatboxers may be contacted by individuals wishing to book them, without artists having to make their personal contact details publicly available. In this way beatboxers can be safely contacted by promoters, agents, talent scouts, record labels, etc. worldwide.
Although we encourage artists to continually seek out paid work by other means, by joining the IBA artists become bookable 24/7, without having to proactively look for gigs themselves.
Beatboxers should only join the IBA if they are available to gig and of a sufficiently high standard as to be booked professionally.
If your beatboxing is not yet up to standard or you are unavailable due to other commitments, then the IBA is not for you.
As such, as a member of the IBA you will be acknowledged as a professional, actively gigging beatboxer. This will also help you in securing gigs via other avenues.
Simply continue on to the next page where you will be prompted to fill out the details which will make up your IBA artist profile. As well as these details, you must upload a good quality photograph of yourself and an audio clip demonstrating your beatboxing prowess.
Upon completion your profile will be reviewed and if approved, added to the publicly viewable database of current IBA artists.
You will also be furnished with a banner which you may place on your website(s), linking directly to your IBA artist profile.
In joining the IBA you authorize us to both represent you and organize work for you in your capacity as a beatboxer/VP.
Once your profile is uploaded to our database you may be contacted for paid work by anyone who feels your profile suits their requirements.
They will contact you via this site giving details of themselves and the gig(s). It is then up to you to get back in touch with them promptly.
We will also endeavor to proactively find work for you; searching for gigs and having the relevant people contact you via your IBA profile.
We require you to get back in touch promptly with anyone who contacts you via the IBA; even if it is only to say that you are not interested in the offered gig(s), for whatever reason.
If for any reason you wish to discontinue your membership of the IBA, please contact us immediately.
Similarly, if you are planning an extended sabbatical please let us know so that we may temporarily deactivate your profile whilst you are away.
We will not tolerate any misuse or abuse of the IBA or any conduct unbefitting a professional artist.
Complaints arising from misuse of the IBA will be thoroughly investigated and guilty parties will be banned from membership and any further use of the IBA.
The service is currently free; paid for in full by mic(ism).
If you would like to help support the IBA and sport a dope garment at the same time, please feel free to purchase one of our IBA hoodies, t-shirts or girls' tees at our online store.
