mic(ism)® - sported and supported by beatboxers worldwide®

Ready to throw down?

Throwdown, the UK's #1 dance event, is hosting a beatbox battle next week on Thursday, May 8th. Following the huge success of Hobbit's Beatboxing Over Breaking last month, Throwdown have asked him back again to judge their beatbox battle.

For further info or to enter the battle, call Throwdown on 077 2430 2698. It'll be well worth your while 'cause apart from bragging rights, there'll be some ├╝ber cool mic(ism) prizes up for grabs and the winner will receive a FireBall V beatbox mic from top mic manufacturer, Audix USA! Please don't wait too long to enter though as the number of entrants is limited.

The night will also feature performances from sick new DJ, Kid-Who, the amazing David J, a locking showcase and a big 2on2 breaking battle. So be sure to join us, bringing in the Spring at the infamous Brixton institution: Throwdown!

If you haven't already checked out our latest interview with mic(ism) sponsored artist, Shodekeh, be sure to go peep it now.

On September 11th and 12th, Shodekeh will be performing at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., together with Jason Baker and Vincent Thomas' VT Dance, as a part of the original dance piece, Witness. We're giving you plenty of advance notice so you can make arrangements to check this out.

Seriously, if you're at all able to, please make a supreme effort to get to one of these performances. Apart from being one of coolest, most down to earth guys we have the pleasure of working with, Shodekeh is also one of the hardest working, most talented beatboxers in our scene and deserves all our support.

Jim Wilde a.k.a. Archangel from Humanbeatbox.com has started a brand new UK-based beatbox agency: 5th Element. With the best interests of all of our own UK-based IBA artists in mind, we have joined forces with 5th Element.

Enquiries to UK-based IBA artists will now be directed to Jim, to be handled by his new agency. We believe this will lead to more, better paid gigs for all of these artists.

We wish Jim and 5th Element the best of luck with this new venture and look forward to further collaborations between mic(ism) and Humanbeatbox.com.

If you didn't make it to the 2008 International Beatbox Convention, well, you missed out. A few of us were there and had a great weekend with far too many highlights to mention. Bring on BoxCon'09!

Check out this footage of a little backstage 3-way cypher between Nino G, Shlomo and, coming briefly back out of retirement, the legend himself, A-Plus!
